About Colimex Oral Suspension

As an antispasmodic, Colimex suspension is used for the treatment of certain type of intestinal problem called irritable bowels syndrome. It reduces the symptoms of intestinal and stomach cramping. This medication works by slowing down the natural movements of the gut and by relaxing the stomach and intestine muscles. It should not be used in children younger than 6 months old and in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Before using this medication, inform your doctor if you have a history of glaucoma, enlarged prostate, urination problems, high blood pressure, nervous system problems, myasthenia gravis, liver, heart, thyroid, intestinal or kidney problems.The dosage is based on your age, medical condition, and your response to the medication.

    This medication is a drug that treats smooth muscle spasms in the gastrointestinal tract which occurs due to irritable bowel syndrome. It blocks the acetylcholine receptors present on the smooth muscles thereby causing the muscles to relax. This suspension also controls excessive secretion from not only stomach but also from bronchial, tracheal and pharyngeal muscles. It also act as a surfactant, carminative and antifoaming agent and has viscoelastic characteristics.
