Hello, Thanks for the query.
Please look at the ingredient, if it is Metformin 500 mg, then both are same. Some times there may be an additional XR mentioned, which means it is an extended release tablet, that acts for over 12 hours inside the gut. Thanks.

No need to take any contraceptive pills as you already are a case of PCOs, and taking indiscriminate contraceptive pills in the middle of cycle will only create more harmonal imbalance. Wait for your periods and in case you miss your periods you may take abortion pills as advised by us at that time.

Hello, metformin 250 mg can be taken either on empty stomach (before food) or after food. There is no hard and fast rule. Some patients complain of gastrointestinal side effects, when taken on empty stomach. So for them it is recommended after food.

Dear Lybrate use both of them contain the same medication and dose but glyciphage sr is released slowly in the stomach so will contain less gastric side effects. You may consider elcephase 500 sr if it is available as it is same as glycomet 500 sr.

Hello, thanks for the query.
You have just mentioned about having diabetes and taking metformin 850 mg (how many times is not given). Dear lybrate-user
1) your present medication will not help.
2) your sugars are high and may need insulin
3) early insulin therapy prevents further complications.
4) do her hba1c and consult me on private.
