Dear Lybrate user,
If you have Thalassemia, iron sucrose should not be taken. Consult Physician/ Hematologist regarding this. Various daals (specially sabut) and milk (and milk products) are good sources of protein.

Hi. I am 33 weeks pregnant as I have less hemoglobin which is at 7.2 and furtine at 4.5 my doctor is giving iron sucrose through IV. First time when I took my body was out of my control became very light weighted, along with giddiness and depression. 2nd time when ii took sucrose I had diarrhea. Please suggest if I can go ahead with further doses. Or any alternative medication can solve my problem? My body is intolerant to oral iron.

As your Hb is too low you need injection and ther are other injections also and it is not known to cause the symptoms you said. You may have anxiety while taking IV

Hi. Can we give 5 orofer s injections at a time in 1 unit NS. Orofer 1 ampoule contains 100 mg/5 ml of iron sucrose. So instead of giving orofer fcm which contains 500 mg/10 ml, can we replace it with 5 ampoules of orofer s. Thanks.

Follow your ongoing doctor advice and if he asks for orofer fcm there is high chance for increasing the hb without any complications and it is one of the safest medication to give intravenously
