I suggest that it is better to wash hand for 20 sec with soap and water then use sanitisers. If there is no provision of soap and water then think of sanitiser. Cdc recommends use of 65-90% ethyl or isopropyl alcohol. Take care.

Dear lybrateuser,
-It is better to avoid alcohol if you do not take, as after starting it becomes a habit & the intake also keeps increasing
-it adds only empty calories to the diet which can increase weight along with the snacks which one has, also increases body & blood fat which is harmful for the body .

Congratulations on your decision to quit alcohol. It does not matter when you feel like drinking, as long as you need your drink. This could lead to increased tolerance levels so that over time you will need to drink more to get the same or greater effect. You need to identify why you need to drink, and go back into your childhood to find out other influences on your personality that makes you prone to addiction. Meet with an addiction counselor and work with them to sort out this drive. Your al...more

Dear Lybrate User,
Congratulations that you have taken the first step. It is the most difficult to come out of denial mode. You need to take counselling including your diet, life style changes and if required medicine also.
For many patients have tried deaddiction regime of brahmakumaris with good results.
You may also do that. All the best.

Alcohol becomes a problem if a person feels compelled to take it everyday and he suffers from withdrawl symptoms like craving, restlessnes, sweating, nausea sleep problems, anxiety etc, when ever he tries to stop it. So the actual problem is pattern of intake. If you are a social drinker then its not a problem.

Strictly speaking, diabetic should avoid alcohol completely. But if you insist on taking it, ensure that your blood sugars and all other parameters are normal. Then, you may take one 30 ml drink of hard liquor (usually containing around 45% alcohol) per day. However, if you are on Insulin, avoid alcohol.
