Dear, glimepiride is a sulfonylurea and the other drug is a combination of metformin and sitagliptin. The three drugs have different mode of aciton. Glimepiride and sitapliptin increases the secretion of insulin from the pancreas whereas metformin acts by increasing insulin sensitivity on the tissue sites as well as suppressing glucose generation by the liver.
