Lorazepam is the generic form of the brand-name drug ativan, used to treat anxiety disorders and to relieve anxiety that's associated with depression. Lorazepam'high' and abuse
lorazepam is intended to be taken only for a short period of time. Do not take this medication for longer than 4 months without your doctor's advice.
Talk to your doctor about using alcohol while on lorazepam. Alcohol can worsen the side effects of lorazepam, such as drowsiness, confusion, and unsteadiness.

Generally lorazepam and all benzodiazepines for that matter lose efficacy with time. I suggest you start homeopathy cannabis indica q at night for better results. Also use navratna extra cool oil for more relaxation.

Ativan and lonazep belong to same group (benzodiapine).
Its generally irrational to take both of these together on daily basis for any medical condition.
Consult a nearby psychiatrist for making your prescription more rationale.

Dear Parveen,
It is nice to know that you don't have any further episode with regular oxcarbazepine. As age advances, clonazepam and lorazepam (ativan) interferes with your memory and does not give any added benefits for your mood. So please reduce one by one slowly. Start with ativan 0.5 mg for 2 weeks and stop. Then clonazepam also 0.5 mg for 2 weeks and stop. You can use etizolam if anxiety or sleep becomes a problem temporarily for next 1 month. Please continue your mood stabilisers.

Ativan (lorazepam) is often used to treat insomnia and anxiety disorder for short term. There are usually other safer drugs which are started along with lorazepam who takes at least a week to show its effect and thereafter lorazepam is usually tapered off and stopped. Taking lorazepam for longer duration, especially without a clinician's advise, will make you dependent on same, after which it becomes really tough to stop/quit same. So it's in your best interest if you visit a psychiatrist to con...more

Dear lybrate-user
Stopping ativan suddenly can lead to rebound insomnia and anxiety. It has to be stopped gradually, preferably under supervision of a psychiatrist. I Will recommend that you consult a psychiatrist for a detailed assessment to understand the cause of anxiety and insomnia. Treatment may consist of medicine and therapy.
