I am 27 years old and taking chlorpheniramine, maleate, dextromethorphan, hydrobromide, phenylephrine and hydrochloride syrup. I am a breast feeding mother. Can I take the above said medicine?

Don't worry, if you take the above mentioned medications for short term (3 to 4) days, it won't have any effect on the baby.

dextromethorphan is not recommended for children, rather use Benadryl
avoid all cold and sour foods, if the child is breast fed, the mother as well is supposed to avoid all cold and sour foods

No don't give it.
Dextromethorphan should be avoided in small children.
Only give syp flucold 2.5 ml three times a day.

I experience sudden bouts of throat irritation around 3-4 times during the day which leads to a lot of coughing. I don't experience any trouble at other times of the day. What should I do? I tried rexcof dx but it did not work.

Upper respiratory tract infections cause dryness in throat, you can try Medicated Lozenges or Warm water during bouts of cough.
Consult a Pulmonologist if problem persists.

I always have some very bad dry cough in a year and I am again having it and additionally I also get very tired, appetite loss as well as headache and pain in my upper shoulders. I did consult my village doctor and he gave me rexcof dx syrup and mucobar cold tablet plus symbiotik tablet but it is of no help and I also did gargled with salt water and keeping myself hydrated with lukewarm boiled water. Honey and ginger is also of no help. Please let me know if its severe? Because I always get scared during this illness.

Hi doctor I am 34 week pregnant women and I am RH NEGATIVE factor patient. Since last week I am suffered from cold and cough. I am taking medicine. Like cefixime, paracetamol and a cough syrup that's combination is chlorpheniramine maleate and Dextromethorphan Hbr recommend by my gynaecologist. But last night when I sneeze then I think some thing like maggot come out through my nose. And I am worried about it what should I do. please doctor tell me about it. I am not taking iron and calcium tablet due to cold and cough. please doctor tell me something.

Not to worry madam but first stop the cough syrup you have to take the medicine tablet moxikind cv 625 my 1 tablet 2 times a day tablet febrex plus 1 tablet 2 times a day syrup brozeet 1 teaspoon 3 times a day tablet montair lc 1 tablet 1 a day tablet r ppi 20 my 1 tablet 1 a day and flomist nasal spray to spray in the nose 3 times a day please check pefr on breathometer at asthma clinic.

I have been suffering from coughing for 1 month. For first week I have taken moxikind 650 mg twice daily. Then, I have taken azithromycin 500 mg once daily with cough syrup codistar dx and cetrizine for 5 days. It made my cough more worsen. Then, I took medisedyl dx cough syrup. It made my cough more worsen and also I started vomit. Then, the sound of my cough changed with a high pitch sound. I always coughed mostly at night. Then, after 3 day I continued with moxikind twice daily for 3 days. Then, I took jufex forte syrup and fifatrol tablet and cetrizine for 3 days. Day by day, my cough was getting worse. Then, I took dextromethorphan hydrobromide syrup thrice a day for 2 days and cetrizine at night. Then my cough get worse and worse. And currently I was taking levolin plus syrup and cetrizine and cefpodoxime proxetil tablet. It did not provide me any relaxation. Whenever I cough, firstly I inhale deep breath with a very annoying and weird sound and then I start coughing with very dense saliva. I am 14 years old boy. I have no relief.

I am taking venlafaxine 225 mg for my recurring depressive disorder from two years at continue phase Dr. diagnosed me major depression and recurring depressive disorder and they prescribed me venlafaxine at 225 mg dose. At this dose I am taking from two years and I am feeling better from my two years old condition but before one week I hv suffered cold cough so I am taken rexcof dx cough syrup from medical store and I hv consume half bottle at one time dose for instant relief but after some time I feel very lazy and feeling of drowness and now I hv feeling of change my mental condition please tell me this is effect of this cough syrup for change my mental illness now I am feeling very nervous and feeling some changes of my mind please tell me what I am do for this please tell can I take this type of cough syrup for future with the venlafaxine medicine.

The cough syrup can reduce the lethargy and other effects you mentioned. Next time discuu with your physician before combing the same. There are other medications for cough which does not cause drowsiness. Good luck.
