About Sprycel 50Mg Tablet

Sprycel 50Mg Tablet is primarily used to treat Philadelphia chromosome positive myeloid leukemia or lymphoblastic leukemia. It may also be used to treat Philadelphia chromosome positive myeloid or lymphoid blast phase when it is a chronic condition, or appears to be accelerating in growth. This drug is available in the form of tablets, and is meant to be administered orally. The recommended dosage for adults is 140 mg, taken once in a day. The tablets should not be crushed or chewed; they are meant to be swallowed, and can be taken either in the morning or in the evening, with or without meals.

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any of its components. This drug could potentially cause myelosuppression, cardiovascular disorders, bleeding problems, severe skin disorders, fluid retention and resultant swelling or edema, pulmonary arterial hypertension, fetal toxicity, and QT prolongation. This medicine could also cause a sudden and significant fall in the count of white blood cells, red blood cells, or platelets, so you will be advised to assess your blood cell counts once every week for the first two months, and then once a month after that.

    How does this medication work?

    Sprycel 50Mg Tablet works as an inhibitor of the SRC-family tyrosine kinase and BCR-ABL kinase. As a result, it binds to these kinases and blocks their growth-promoting functions thus helps inhibit the growth of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL).
