About Us Ayurveda, which literally means the science of life (Ayur = Life, Veda = Science), is an ancient medical science which was developed in India thousands of years ago. Ayurveda is a system, which uses the inherent principles of nature, to help maintain the health of a person by keeping the body, mind and spirit in perfect equilibrium with nature. If there is an imbalance in these elements along with the Tridoshas (Vatta, Pitta, Kapha) then Ayurveda plays a crucial role in eradicating the root cause of the ailment or disease. The doshas assist in the creation of all of the various tissues of the body and to remove any unnecessary waste products from the body. Each person has a unique dosha with unique nutritional needs. Establishing your dosha enables you determine suitable diets, exercise and lifestyles to maintain balance. This is the key to maintaining health. It is the Tridoshas that influence all movements, all transformations, all sensory functions, and many of the other activities in the human body and mind. Ayurveda has eight ways to diagnose illness, namely Nadi (pulse), Mootra (urine), Mala (stool), Jihva (tongue), Shabda (speech), Sparsha (touch), Druk (vision), and Aakruti (appearance). Ayurveda is not a merely a method for the treatment of diseases & cures, it is a detailed description of how to lead one's life in harmony with nature. Marma is the name of a therapy. Marmas are the vital points in the body where the life force is concentrated. The Marma points are located where the flesh, veins, arteries, tendons, bones and joints meet. They may also be described as the junctions where Vata, Pitta and Kapha meet; where the Sattva, Rajas and Tamas gunas meet; or where Eternity and Relativity meet and determine the character of the person.
