Sweaty Hands called palmar hyperhidrosis is quite embarrassing condition. The specific cause for excessive sweating is unknown but it may be triggered by stress, anxiety, hormonal imbalances, health conditions like congestive heart failure, diabetes, Parkinson?s disease etc., But many believe it is caused by a hyperactive sympathetic nervous system, causing the sweat glands in the hands to produce sweat unnecessarily. Drysol or other Topical Medicines containing Aluminium chloride may be tried. Oral Medications - anticholinergic drugs like Oxybutynin, propantheline bromide and benztropinereduce hyperhidrosis. may be helpful. Iontophoresis treatment where patients place their hands in trays filled with water that pass a mild electrical current through the skin of the hands. This causes the outer layer of the skin to thicken, blocking the flow of sweat. Botox Injection where the toxins temporarily block the release of acetylcholine, the chemical neurotransmitter from the nerves that send signals to the sweat glands, but is very costly. The last option is Surgery a procedure called ETS - Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy. Avoid spicy foods, alcohol and caffeine, smoking and drink more water to lower your body temperature are also helpful.
