Dear Mr. Prasanta, Stage 3 esophageal cancer is technically treatable and curable. However there are certain points to note 1) esophageal surgery is very morbid surgery 2) stage 3 means patient will need neoadjuvant chemotherapy before surgery 3) At 75 years if he is not fit enough to withstand chemotherapy and surgery then it is not possible to cure him 4) in such a situation palliative radiation is given So based on the patients general condition we will have to decide whether to plan a curative treatment or palliative treatment

The Curative treatment options for esophageal cancer are either Surgery or concurrent Chemoradiation. Chemoradiation is preferred in upper esophagus and surgery is preferred in lower esophagus. But at the age of 75 he may not tolerate surgery we'll. So in my opinion chemoradiation if he is fit or only radiation may be tried in Curative intent.
