HSG (hysterosalpingography) is an X -Ray procedure to look for fallopian tube patency and uterine cavity shape, size and abnormalities, if any. This procedure is to be done on Day 9 of menses. It is completely based on patient's cooperation as it is to be done without anaesthesia. The radio opaque dye is pushed in the uterus through the cervix and it fills the tube and spills out in the peritoneal cavity. This process is little painful, but it can be done in hardly 10 mins from start to end if patient cooperates. The pain subsides with painkillers if required ,within few minutes.
