I had total thyroidectomy due to Thyroid cancer, calcium is in control, using 1000 mg of 1 Calcium tablet per day. And Eltroxin of 200 mcg. Problem is some times my heart races and some times I get pain in heart region. Is this because of Eltroxin? Are these symptoms dangerous? Because I never had racing heart and pain after surgery I noticed it after starting Eltroxin. I told my Doctor same but he says my body needs 200 mcg of dosage. What should I do now? I am worried if these symptoms are life threatening and can they lead to other problems? Please suggest.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Have you checked the TSH levels recently> Please check the same and comeback. Thyroxine is essential, but if the dosage is high, it can hasten the heart and also lead to pain. Thanks.
