Sir, I have mucus on my stool & some time pain occurs in my belly & I have seen fissure like external piles and high constipation. I think I am developing piles. Dr. had advised me FOBT stool test for 3 continue days, all were negative. Now Dr. has advised me colonoscopy. As I listened colonoscopy is very dangerous test. Once it done it will hurt you throughout the life, like bleeding from anus, weakness of colon, high pain during colonoscopy, I don't have anybody who can advice me either I should go for this test or not. I need your advice. One more thing I have listened that during Colonoscopy Dr. removes hermodies (Piles) which causes blood & as time passes it develop piles. please advice.

If you have piles it can bleed during colonoscopy and colonoscopy is not a dangerous test. Obviously each procedure has its own unique complications but the benefit maybe higher. Pls treat the fissure with ointment if really it's a fissure .based on age other problems even hidden cancer can be there. So pls provide more data .FOBT positive is not a good sign. It means there is bleeding inside for which the doctor advised colonoscopy.

Mr. lybrate-user .Colonoscopy is a diagnostic technique which helps to diagnose the disease. It is done to rule out any pahologies which are higher up and can not be seen easily. You can surely do colonoscopy which will help to diagnose the disease and hep to treat you after diagnosing. If done by experienced doctor if will never cause bleeding, etc. .Colonoscopy
