We would like to go for bariatric sleeve surgery for my son who is 140 kg. We were told by the families of persons who have undergone this that the patient will be given one or two spoonfuls of food at a time in the first one or two months. They say patients will cry for food after operation Is it so scary. Can you explain a bit on food intake after bariatric surgery for first one or two months.

Respected lybrate-user, hi warm welcome to Lybrate.com I have evaluated your query thoroughly.* There is nothing like that you have narrated.* The bariatric surgeons give precise charts for the post operative period upto 6 months. That includes liquids upto 4 weeks, soft diet in sessions next 8 weeks, later on according to the clinical evaluations.* I have seen number of patients post operative who do not cry at all for food. Hope this will make your queery clear. Welcome for any further assistance. Wishing your son fine health ahead. And a happy prosperous new year in advance. Regards dear take care.
