I am a 25 year old and have a headache since last 2.5 months. I have already seen doctors and they told that symptoms match to those of a migraine. I have already taken migraine medicines for over a month. But yet I encounter headache, heavy headedness and nausea daily. I don't understand why is it continuous? How to lower the frequency. I cannot concentrate at my work, at my study. I was going gym for some while which I have quit. My lifestyle is fine but again I always feel tired. Whenever I am alone I feel weirdly lonely and cry often. Are the continuous headaches because of migraine or is there a possibility that I am under depression. I have experienced many lows including a breakup, failure at a competitive exam recently. Should I consult a neurologist or a psychologist. I am not really a weak heart-ed person but I am really worried about my health, my current attitude and my future if things does not change. Kindly suggest.

Well, as I understand, you have migraine since last 2.5 months, and you have been taking prothiaden for over a month now. Prothiaden, however, seems to be an anti-depressant and most of the symptoms that you have described like nausea, heavy headedness, headache etc are side effects of prothiaden which usually clear off after couple of weeks. Seemingly, your already existing headache (migraine as diagnosed) is not being helped through your current medication and the side effects of prothiaden probably add to your issues. Furthermore, in the given context, it is likely that anyone would get anxious, stressed out and eventually get into depression. That you feel weird, lonely and cry often, is indicative of you being depressed. I would advise you to meet up your physician whosoever you are consulting at present, and have a review of the treatment progress with no further delay. As there could still be better medications, he/ she may consider changing medication/ dose suitably as appropriate and one that has minimal side effects. At the same time, I would advise you to remain mentally strong as you already are, believe in yourself, and have faith and hope that there always is light at the end of the tunnel, however dark the tunnel may appear to be. Yogasanas, pranayams & meditation can also help you relax, de-stress and keep you focussed even during these tough times. At the same time, a trip to some hill station or some scenic natural place can help you relax, rejuvenate, think clearly and have a fresh perspective. For a second opinion, you should consult a psychologist if you have not consulted one already. He/ she may advise diagnostics & refer you appropriately as required.
