It is important to give exclusively breastfeeding for 6 months of age if you give only your breast milk then there is no need to worry and there are very very less chances of infection. There is no need to give outside water of any type of supplements which might lead to infection and vomiting. Simple multivitamins and Vitamin D might be needed as prescribed by your pediatrician. It is important to burp the child after every episode of breastfeeding to remove the excess amount of air that the child has swallowed with breastfeeding. If the burping is not done properly the air remains in the stomach and later goes into the intestine this leads to decrease the amount of milk intake by the baby as well as increase chances of vomiting. Burping should be done for approximately 10 to 15 minutes and if the baby is more prone to vomiting then it can be continued for 20 to 30 minutes. This decreases the chances of vomiting to a large extent even after doing this the vomiting persists then kindly meet your pediatrician. He will assess the child and guide you accordingly. Also after exclusive breastfeeding the motions are usually Semi solid to liquid. If you are confident that you have been given only your breast feeding then the doctor is confident that the baby will not have any type of infection and the vomiting and loose stool that happens might be normal.
