There is not much to worry about costochondritis. it is just a minor inflammation in the junction that joins the ribs and cartilage to the breastbone. it is usually caused due to any viral or bacterial infections. It usually subsides by itself. It could also be due to any chest surgery performed that leads to reduced blood flow to the suture site. But that also come down eventually. As far as the studies show, Thyroid does not seem to have anything to do with this problem.
