My mom 49 years old is diagnosed with diaphragmatic hernia. She had been operated for sliding hiatal hernia last october. Now the same doctor has suggested surgery for this hernia. We are confused what step to take. Because he suggest surgery is the only way to cure and not medications.

Depending on symptoms and degree of herniation, decision of surgery is taken. Final answer is surgery, to be done laproscopically.

Hi definitive management for diaphargmatic hernia repair is surgery only. There are no medications with which this defect can be corrected. I think you should follow your surgeons advice and depending upon the symptoms plan for elective laparoscopic surgery. Do understand with him whether it is recurrence of previous haital hernia only or some separate region.
