Swelling near the anus may occur due to three commonly coccuring conditions. One of them is hemorrhoids or piles. Piles are the enlarged vascular cushion which in the patient becomes habitually pushed out of the anus at the time of defecation. They generally are not painful, until and unless associated with fissure or clot formation in the prolapsing venous cushions.
