Please suggested by Podiatrists, My father is a diabetic person, suffered from the growth of double nail in his toe finger of the right foot. We sought medical advice, and a Podiatrist cut the thick part of the nail plus prescribed a tablet and an ointment. What more precautions/consultations/considerations should we take?

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Ingrowing toe nail is a fairly common condition. It needs surgery to get it removed. Now the precautions are: To keep blood glucose well controlled, with fasting < 100 mg, Pp 160 to 180 mg & HbA1c% <7. Plus while cutting the toe nails, not to go too deep and get hurt. For the present let him use the prescribed tablets and the ointment. Further should take all care and avoid injury to the leg and toes. Thanks.
