Hello doctor, I am 31 year old. I accidentally ruptured my eardrum with ear bud and I did not notice it until it was infected. When I consulted ENT specialist he told me about hole in my eardrum and also gave medicine to treat infection. As I do not have any problem of tinnitus, pain or any other severe problems he suggested me to wait for healing of eardrum by itself. It has been almost a year still my ruptured year is not healed. Slight hearing loss is there and puss discharge is there. I do not have any pain or any severe problem. Should I give it little more time to heal it by itself as I am not facing any problem or should I go for surgery? Please suggest me.

Please don't go for surgery leaving the drum dry would itself help closing the perforation. Make sure you plug the ear canal with cotton that is dipped in oil and squeezed well.
