I want to know if alcoholism and that too desi one can confidently stop drinking and refuse even when alone. He was in mumbai and never drank but now gone out of town and got again into it. And once starts drinking will not stop until his liver issue begins or does not lose all. Is there a confident solution towards this.

Dear lybrate-user, It is nice of you to think about alcohol use in Jagdish. May be, Jagdish can distract and postpone his craving for alcohol in Mumbai. Such distractions may not be available outside Mumbai. So he gets tempted and drinks. Once he lapses, it becomes a vicious cycle. It is better that he discusses these lapses, relapses and craving with a psychiatrist in Mumbai when he is sober itself. Sometime he needs to take anti craving tablets for 1 year or so along with relapse prevention strategies. You can help him in these consultations as co therapist.
