Dear doctor Somewhere I have read a CD4 count can tell whether a person is Hiv infected or not. I went for CD4 count before a Hiv test. My CD4 count came low 390 (Normal from 430). The needle which was pushed was not new. The same day after giving blood I was in fever for 2 weeks followed by joint muscle pain. Headache stomach everything was there. I tested at 35 days after needle exposure by immunochromotography rapid test it was negative. At 87 days I did Rna Pcr for Hiv 1 it was non detectable. At 102 days tested by 4th generation (Mini vidas) result is antibody 0.06 and antigen not detected (positive greater than 0.25). At 144 and 180 days I tested negative by rapid immunochromotography test. Could there any chance left for Hiv 1&2? At present I have oral leukoplakia and red ring type patches in mouth. Pain in lower armpit and groin area and sometimes any part of my body shivers (2 - 3 times daily). Can you Sir help me what is going on in my body. Also tested negative for Hep B and C at 180 days. What test I further require to diagnose my problem? Whether all the above is causing for Hiv. Kindly help Sir.

Hi. As you have already done most of the test, this signifies that the result is negative. CD4 cells are decreased in conditions where there is an attack on the immune system and CD4 cells gets destroyed. Mostly commonly it's seen in HIV infection. You have also reported of oral lesions which can be a related issue. So there might be some other causes which is leading to such condition. But kindly also get a HIV ELISA test done and check the values. Hopefully it will also be negative. In all such circumstances at last you need to visit a Dr. in person with all the reports for proper examination and management. Thanks.
