Doctor, I am 58 and diabetic for the last 9 years. My creatinine is 1.06, BUN is 19 but urine shows a lot of protein 1000. How to reduce protein leakage into the urine?

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. High proteinuria is usually a sign of affection to functioning of the kidney. This happens due to years of uncontrolled blood glucose and or high BP. Both diabetes and high BP affect filtration membrane of the kidney. Therefore, it essential to achieve a strict blood glucose control with fasting < 100 mg, PP 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. Since there is no mention about your blood glucose levels and HbA1c% as well as BP readings, it is difficult to comment. Thanks.
