Hi, my father in law has recently done the dialysis as his sugar level was not constant through 1 Months and kidney got infected as advised by doctor. I am not sure why he advised for dialysis as per my understanding if your kidney performance is less than 10% then you need to do dialysis which is twice a week at least but his in his case strange thing is he asked for dialysis and charge huge amount. 2 ndlly after dialysis his whole body got major swelling. My basic question is can sugar/diabetes lead to dialysis and if yes then how much cost involved for one time dialysis. And it would great if you advice good hospital in faridabad or near by Delhi.

Hello, Diabetes is the most common cause of kidney failure. Generally in these patients dialysis is required lifelong. In certain patients , an infection may lead to worsening of kidneys function, and when the infection is cleared off it may lead to improvement in kidney function. In your case it is not clear what was the status of his kodneys prior to this episode.
