Hi I am 20 days mom. I am breast feeding my baby. I am not able to understand whether my lol is sufficient with my milk. His weight dropped to 100gms after birth. So I started formula also for him. Please tell me how can I understand my baby is having sufficient milk.

Initial drop is common and for that no formula milk should be started. Formula milk has its own problems. Whether milk is sufficient or not is decided by weight of baby and urine frequency of baby, if required consult Paediatrician

Hello, Babies tend to loose weight in the initial few days after birth, but come back to the birth weight by the 10th to 14th day of life. Breast milk and formula milk both can be given to a baby. You just have to be careful while preparing the formula milk, that you take the proper concentration (It is one scoop of formula per 30 ml of water). Also while breast feeding, you have to empty one breast totally before offering the next. To know whether the child is adequately fed; the best way is to monitor the urine output. Baby should pass atleast 6-8 times a day. Also you can check the weight every fortnightly to be doubly sure. Do not worry. Happy parenting. Take care.
