Milk lumps are galactoceles, which are collections of accumulated milk. It is quite common during Breast feeding. If it is very painful or enlarging in size, better to see a breast surgeon, who would examine you to confirm that it is a galactoceles and not an abscess or cyst. If need be, they may ask for an ultrasound of the breast. If it is significant collection on ultrasound then they may put in a needle and aspirate the milk, which would provide relief from the pain. Usually the galactoceles are sterile and hence antibiotics are not necessary. Cold compresses and painkillers usually suffice with or without aspiration.
