Will adpkd patient will surely face chronic kidney disease and will need dialysis after 50 years age? They can never live a normal life long life?

Hi Lybrate user. It depends on the type of Adpkd that an individual has. There are 2 types of ADPKD 1 and 2 depending on the type of genetic mutation. One is more severe than 2 with mean age to reaching dialysis is 55 years vs 65 yr. It is usually predicted by the severity in the family members, the kidney size, other conditions like BP and diabetes. Provided the risk factors are controlled well, a majority can lead a good and normal life.
