Hi Lybrate user. The reason for anemia in dialysis as well as nondialytic CKD patients is deficiency of a hormone called erythropoietin which stimulates the formation of red blood cells and deficiency of iron. Home based remedies can only provide a liitle bit of increased iron in the patient's diet, but can not completely improve the deficiency of iron and have no effect on erythropoietin. Hence it is important in most patients on dialysis to take erythropoietin injections as well as iron supplements either in oral or injection form. Hope I have clarified your query.
