This means you had typhoid in the past but not now. Typhidot test is a dot ELISA kit that detects IgM and IgG antibodies against the outer membrane protein (OMP) of the Salmonella typhi. IgM shows recent infection where as IgG signifies remote infection. The Typhidot test only gives result as positive or negative. Value of a single Widal test in the diagnosis of typhoid fever. Positive Widal test (antibody titre against S. Typhi O antigen of 1: 160) was recorded in 61.2 per cent of patients with bacteriologically confirmed typhoid fever and in 58.8 per cent with culture negative but clinically suggestive typhoid fever. In cases of Salmonella infection, it is a demonstration of the presence of O-soma false-positive result. The Widal test is positive if TO antigen titer is more than 1: 160 in an active infection, or if TH antigen titer is more than 1: 160 in past infection or in immunized persons.
