Hey I am a female and age is 22, I wanted to ask if the emergency contraceptive pill (IPILL) works if you take withing 12 hours of an unprotected act. When on ovulation or already ovulated. Does it stop a fertilization of egg or does it prevent implantation if already ovulated or ovulating at the time of taking the pill.

Emergency contraceptive pill has to be taken within 72 hrs of unprotected intercourse, the earlier you take the better. It prevents pregnancy by delaying ovulation but it has no effect on preexisting pregnancy. It has a failure rate of 2-5 %
