Hi, I have 1 months baby and I am unable to give my milk to him due to antidepressant medicines. These medicines I started post delivery. According to child specialist I can give my milk by keeping gap of 3 hrs. According to gynac I can't give my milk. Medicines names are olagress md 25, frext 50, clonil 75, loxum2, escigress cz. I am very much confused now. I want to breast feed my child. But I am not sure if it will have impact on my child s brain. Please advise. Thanks.

You have mentioned the brand names but generic names will help me a lot to decode and send the correct information. Any way you seem to be taking 3 anti depressants. How ever severe may be the Depression 3 anti depressants are not warranted .Any medication mother takes will necessarily get excreted in the breast milk safety of which can be decided. The 3to 4 hrs rule is O.k but you need to express the milk and then feed the child. ,Best is to breast feed after expressing out the morning milk and then feed the infant which is far more safer for both the mother and the new born.
