My sister had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and mood disorder. She was very aggressive initially and got electric shocks 3 times in the hospital. Later medications helped her to calm down. But all this took 25 years. At present her treatment is being continued but still she is not a social person. She does not come out of the house, does not speak that much and does things as per her wish. Somebody suggested me to appoint a counselor/psychologist for her who can visit home, interact and bring her out of her confined space. Kindly, suggest what shall I do?

Hi, Yes it is indeed a very good suggestion. Also plz don't expect much from her. This combination of these two serious illnesses takes full control of mind and by medication we can only maintain it. The patient looses her concentration and confidence. If you have any good day care centre for such patients you may enroll her there. It would make the caregivers at home free.
