My mother in law is tested for blood sugar. She got fasting blood sugar 93 and post lunch blood sugar 190 is it ok.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Fasting glucose 93 mg is normal. However, 190 mg after food is high. It is shows pre-diabetic stage. Once if glucose after food crosses 200 mg, it is confirmed diabetes. Between 141 to 199 mg, it is pre-diabetes. She needs to take precautions so that diabetes does not develop early. Take a restricted diet, avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items, foods made from maida and colas. Exercise daily for 1 hour, brisk walking is very good. Maintain normal weight. Thanks.
