every insulin has it's time of action. for example human mustard 30/70 has 12 hrs of action or actrapid has 6-8hrs , novorapid 4 hrs humalog 4 hrs humalog mix25/75 has 12hrs lantus (glargine) has 24 hrs etc.. after it is finished then sugars will start rising again and need another shot.
