Hello Doctor, I am 58 years old and had an umbilical hernia for 10 years -no symptoms during surgery for burst appendix in December 2017 the surgeon stitched it up I was told that a mesh was not placed because of the septic condition will a CT scan show whether its intact? What precautions should I take to see it does not return? If it does can I live with it? I ask because I was told I had lung issues -pleurisy -due to anesthesia thank you for your time warm regards

Hello. Hopefully it will not come back if done properly. You should avoid conditions that increase abdominal pressure viz. Constipation, cough and lifting heavy weights. Regards.
