Dear Doctor, What is the normal blood sugar level for a person. Yesterday I checked my blood sugar in the morning in Accu check monitor machine it showed 110 Before food. And later when I checked after food it showed 164. Whether it is normal or high. My age is 35 years 6 months. When I browsed internet ADA tells 180 below is OK. Kindly guide me.

Your blood sugar is not in diabetic category by higher than normal. You need to take precautions. Avoid excess sugar and sweets, junk food, exercise regularly, maintain ideal body weight for your height. Monitor blood sugar regularly.

Most probably your having pre diabetes but accucheck is not standard lab for diagnosis U need to do fasting and 2 hr 75gm OGTT test along with Hba1c to confirm same Yes according to ADA sugar should be less than 180 but that is for those who are known diabetic and on treatment as control.
