Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Blood glucose 247 mg is high, but there is no mention whether it is fasting, PP or random. Plus it is necessary to know HbA1c% to see if the control is good enough. Please tell me what is the current treatment because it appears to be ineffective. Needs to be upgraded. Ideally well controlled diabetic person shoukld have fasting glucose < 100 mg, PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. Foods to be avoided are: sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items, foods made from maida and cols. Should use whole grain flour for chapati and roti. Consume more of green leafy vegetables and salads, plus fruits too. Thanks.

As far as diabetes is concerned, control of sugar depends on few things, diet, food pattern, food timings, exercise, stress and sleep along with medications. For her, 247 is very high. Personalized food / diet chart can be given after detailed examination. She can follow basic rules to control her sugar levels. 1. Have a small frequent meal every 3 to 4 hours. 2. Have less quantity of rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes 3. Avoid direct sugar, jaggery, juices/ cold drinks etc 4. Have fruits in small quantity at least 2 times/ day.
