A rapid test is a great test since you can get results within minutes. It needs to be taken 4 weeks to 3 months post exposure (although up to 95% of infection are detectable within 4-6 ). Most people develop detectable antibodies in 21-25 days. World Health Organization considers all test results conclusive at 3 months. The are no combo Rapid tests. There is a 4th Generation aka DUO or COMBO test which looks at both the antibodies and P24 protein antigens. The P24 Antigen Test is not accurate after 6 weeks. The reason for this is that the antigen on HIV that most commonly provokes an antibody response and once the immune system begins to produce antibodies to fight the virus, the P24 antigen levels drop off because they are no longer needed. It sounds to me that what you had was the Rapid test, this is a very good test and is 99.6% accurate. To get a conclusive result on your test take the test three months post-exposure.
