If your periods are very regular, the first 7 days after the first day of the menstrual cycle (the first day of bleeding is the first day of the menstrual cycle) is a safe period. If you bleed for 5 days, then by the time the period ends, you will already be on the Day 5 of your menstrual cycle and will have only 2 days of safe period. If the periods are irregular, then a safe period is difficult to calculate. If you had sex on Day 3-4 of your periods, then it is unlikely that you will get pregnant.
