My son is 2 years old and does not want to eat anything dry, like biscuits, bread etc. He still wants pured food and does not chew at all. The only non pureed foods he prefers to eat (Swallow) is boiled green peas, cheese and corn puffs. But again, all these are melting foods when eaten. Please advise how to proceed?

Dear lybrate-user, While this could mean something as simple as food choosiness, which is not uncommon it can also point towards something serious which makes swallowing solids difficult. Your kid is very young as so I strongly suggest you be proactive and immediately see a pediatrician to rule out anything serious. This is a crucial phase of speech development and growth and we must ensure that we adress any problems in the throat/food pipe/voice box area on priority.

Be patient with children. Every child has some peculiar habits, they change slowly over a period of time. But do not panic. Do not force, do not scold. Be gentle, be tactful. Time will come when he will eat everything. Let the phase pass by and soon he will develop liking and start eating things.
