Hi Sir, What is serofast vdrl? What are the treatment for serofast vdrl positive? Dose it ever goes negative again? I am getting treatment for sypillis from last one year. At beginning it was reactive with 1: 32 dilution and tpha positive. After treatment (penicillin shots and antibiotics) it came down to 1: 8 and then later 1: 4. But after that its been like 3-4 months my vdrl reported reactive with 1: 4 dilution ans still at same level. What should I do?

Your TPHA must be negative. If so no worry.

Dont bother as it may remain so even in successfully treated patients

A continuing challenge to determining the response to treatment of early syphilis is exemplified by the substantial proportion of patients who fail to achieve serological cure and remain serofast, defined as a <4-fold (2 dilution) decline in nontreponemal antibody titers at 6?12 months or as persistently low titers If you have received the antibiotics and the results will show some values in the titer and it is called serofast syphilis and no specific treatment is needed and the getting syphilis treated is the only action
