You have to wait and watch and go for regular follow up. Also read about Diabetes and it's management through lifestyle changes and medicines (according to doctor's advise) if necessary. Once diagnosed with diabetes, one has to maintain a disciplined and healthy lifestyle. Eat everything (healthy and nutritious balanced diet) in moderation with the appropriate calorie count. Daily exercise will be very beneficial to keep the insulin resistance at bay. Learn Yoga and pranayam. Avoid stimulants like alcohol and tobacco and restrict tea and coffee. Learn to relax the mind with some hobbies or do regular Yoga. You can update again with a detailed report (HbA1c, fasting and PP and other tests as suggested by your doctor) for further information.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Usually glimiperide plus metformin combination does help in controlling blood glucose. However, since you have very high glucose level,(only random glucose is mentioned), it is essential to know PP glucose and HbA1c% as well as lipid profile. Usual approach now a days is to use insulin to control excessive glucose levelsrapidly along with oral drugs. Then once levels are stabilised, Insulin is withdrawn. This takes about 3 months or so. Your BMI is 27.27 kgs/Sq meter (normal <23 kgs/Sq met), you are almost 10 plus kgs overweight. Hence it is essential to reduce weight, so exercise is needed along with diet restriction. You should maintain fasting glucose < 100 mg and PP 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% < 6.8%. That will help in postponing or preventing long term complications of diabetes. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.
