Hi, I am from Malaysia. I would like to inquiry about Galvus Met. Can a kidney impairment patient consume Galvus Met? My dad is 60 years old with Kidney impairment. He is currently taking QDS SC insulin Insugen R and Insugen N, but his blood sugar is still uncontrolled. He always has hyperglycemia (high as 20mmols) during the day after meals, but hypoglycemic in the night (as low as 2.8 mmols). Could you please advise me in this matter? Should we change SC insulin to oral OHA? Thank you for your time which I greatly appreciate.

Yes he can switch over to oral medicines under supervision of a Physician. Choice of medicines will depend upon kidney functions and other co-morbidities.
