I was just diagnosed with alcohol neuropathy (but it was written down as polyneuropathy). I have no problem going without alcohol so I am curious if it is still necessary for me to see a neurologist as directed by my doctor? My symptoms have faded and only lasted for a couple days (My hands, face and feet tingled, burned and went numb). This tends to happen any time I am hungover. I was pretty wild but have calmed down over the past couple of years. I?m not sure, since the cause is known, if this is still needed. Thanks!

Hi: PolyNeuropathy or peripheral neuropathy in your case need Neurologist Intervention so effective medications can be given and treatment can be provided, even if its happening after or before you drink alcohol, there may be underlying causes due to which neuropathy is there. Hence my suggestions would be to see Neurologist so he can rule out any other causes and may provide you with effective treatment for your problem.
