Respected Sir/Mam, My wife is pregnant and currently its 27 weeks and 3 days. I came to know that in this period i.e in between 24-28 weeks .pregnant patient have to go for test for GESTATIONAL DIABETES via GTT (glucose tolerance test). My simple question is - Should I go for 1?Glucose tolerance test with 75GM 2?Glucose tolerance test with 100GM or something else .kindly explain and confirm. Rgds Amitabh.

She should go for glucose challenge test. Take 75 gm of glucose with 1glass of water ,after 1 hr BLD sugar to be done. Levels upto 140 are considered normal, if >140 then patient has chances of developing gestational diabetes, and needs to be further investigated.
