Hi, My Grandmother was diagnosed with dementia about a month back. She repeats things, calls out name of a person whole day and seems confused every time. She's being given Alzil 5 and Qutan 50 but there's no improvement till now. Are the medicines given correct for the same?

These are medicines for dementia. Consult the treating psychiatrist again and discuss about her problems. Remember dementia is a progressive illness.

Dear Lybrate user, Sorry to hear that your grandmother is dementing. Alzil 5 mg will be increased to 20 mg slowly over next 6-9 months. It will stop her from dementing further. It will not improve her symptoms and make her alright like last year. Qutan is not a drug for dementia. But her behaviour that disturbs you people, will be under control with Qutan.
