I had provera dna test on 10th day and pcr rna test on 35th day and both came not detected.in between I had combo duo test on 29th day which was negative and 41 days elisa test and its negative as well. Still I am not confident as many web are telling 3 months to conclusive. Many drs also told not to be worried but still am scared. Could any one please finally help me if I will be fully risk free stage or still need some test. Please please give some details and help me on this.

Hello. From your test results, you are not infected with hiv, from the suspected exposure. Hiv 1 dna pcr done at or after 10 days is highly sensitive test to detect hiv infection. However it is not recommended as first line test ,except in infants. Beside that you did hiv rna pcr ,which is also undected. Both the test done at very high cost,, combind with elisa tests you have done, rules out hiv infection. The window period you see in google etc is for the seroconversion ie when antibodies starts to appear in blood. This period is for combo dual tests you did. This window period is not for dna or rna tests which you already did. For these 2 nuclic acid test (nat) theres an eclipse period of 10 days. Ie after this period the test can be done as these two hiv markers become detected in a positive case. Through this msg and this platform, I again would like to please emphasize to consult an hiv spl before going for self referal tests and seeking advice after tests are done is just an opposite practice, resulting in waste of money and still being in stress. The private labs are happy to do the test on self request without any pre or post counselling. Thanks.
