Hello. My wife is suffering from piles. She is having "komb/mass" at anal opening. She has tried ayurvedic treatment for months & maintaining her diet too but not get permanent relif. Recently, after consultation with gynecologist doctor, she has started coarse of antibiotics, painkiller and creams. Is it ok to proceed further with same treatment or it's better to do remove it by surgical or non surgical procedure? Which procedures are less painful and reliable at the same time and how much time is required to recover? What is approximate cost involved? Can someone please throw light on the same?

Get yourself examined by a general surgeon. It can be external thrombosed pile, external piles or interno-external piles of various degrees. Some can be treated with medicines. Other may require surgery. Open haemorrhoidectomy is a gold standard procedure to eliminate piles. However more expensive, fashionable stappler haemorrhoidectomy is also available now a days. Pain is very less after surgery. It takes about a week to 10 days to heal.

What is problem with piles, is it pain or bleed. If symptoms are there only then surgery otherwise medical treatment and avoid constipation with high fiber diet. Stapler surgery is safe with less pain and quick recovery in 2 weeks.
